Meet Veronica

Career Coach & Counselor

My first job search experience did not go well. I felt confident as I went for my interview; however, I recalled the interviewer telling me I knew a little bit of everything and a whole lot of nothing. I did not get the job and I was extremely disappointed, but I learned so much from the experience. I embarked on a journey to equip myself with expertise to help job seekers create new beginnings regardless of their status in the workplace. I received a bachelor’s degree from Iona College in NY and a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling with an emphasis on Employment Services from New York University in NY. I accomplished this while working a full-time job in business and finance and then transitioned to career counseling. It is now 25+ years later and I spent the years successfully coaching job seekers on their career journey including people with disabilities, veterans, students from high school to college, college to careers, and mid-level job seekers who want to transition to new positions.

I am uniquely qualified to serve this diverse population with solid experiences in workforce development,  career development/counseling, rehabilitation counseling, and corporate (profit and non-profit) environments. Being a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Certified Professional Résumé Writer, Certified Professional Career Coach and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) Certified Practitioner positions me to use techniques to empower job seekers, inspire confidence, and demonstrate skills and competencies to achieve goals.

My approach to coaching clients

Ensuring equity in delivery of services has been my core belief; I work to ensure that everyone is treated with respect and dignity. I believe in endless possibilities. My belief is that individuals have unique strengths and capabilities and it is my role to help them identify these unique skills and competencies that are needed as they conduct their job search. My belief is that I should always be aware of the needs of my clients and work diligently to ensure that appropriate support is rendered to narrow any gaps to promote achievement. I have found that when reasonable expectations are set coupled with appropriate support, empathy, and patience then success is possible.

Rèsumè Writing

A résumé is more than words you put on a page and upload with your job application. Demand for on-line résumé services affects how we construct résumés. Résumés must now be industry specific, must have relevant skills and competencies that meet the needs of the employers, and must be submitted on company websites.

When employers use electronic scanning technology/Applicant Tracking Systems(ATS) to screen candidates each résumé is viewed only on average 15 seconds for you to be screened in or out of the initial application process. Let us help you create a dynamic résumé that meets the needs of today’s ATS.

Here are five reasons why you should get a professional resume.

  • You want to create a positive 1st impression of skills in 10-15 seconds.

  • You want to get a quick response.

  • You want to get screened in for that first interview.

  • You want to present a professional error-free document focused on the needs of the employers.

  • You want to position yourself to show your value and get that salary you want.

Interviewing Techniques

Your résumé did the job and you got called for the interview. What happens next?

The interview gives the employer an opportunity to gain knowledge about you, your qualifications and experience, and to decide if you are the best person for the job. This may be the point where hiring decisions are made. An interview may serve as a screening tool for future interviews and may be in person or online; however, online interviews are like face-to-face interviews and carry the same level of stress. We can help you to prepare for the various types and phases of the interview using our digital interview prep-module.
